EV Offshore uses downhole camera for inspection

NORWICH, UK – EV Offshore Ltd. has used a downhole camera to inspect a well for Nexen Petroleum UK Ltd. in the North Sea at Buzzard.
The EVO designed and manufactured camera inspected conditions in a live annulus using a third-party lubricator system via Platform B annulus valves. The camera operated as a standalone to retain images for subsequent downloading to a computer for viewing.
The custom-made camera was tested onshore prior to running into the 32mm side-outlet bore and operating at 3,000 psi (2 MPa). Tests showed the camera view was not obscured by turbid flow and the equipment condition could be determined from the images.
