MANCHESTER, UK – Arup has agreed to become the latest member of ABT Oil and Gas’ (ABTOG) Marginal Field Delivery Consortium.
ABTOG is a joint venture between UK independentEnergi Oil and ABTechnology. Existing members of the consortium are Kongsberg Maritime, Apollo, RMRI, Braemar ACM, AGR, and Frames.
Arup has developed the ACE self-installing platform. Four are in service in the Bass Strait off southeast Australia, the Taranaki basin off New Zealand, the West Natuna Sea in Indonesia, and the West Philippine Sea, with a fifth currently being developed for a field in the UK North Sea.
The platforms are also designed for redeployment once the field has been depleted, allowing various sets of reserves to be exploited, in areas of high decommissioning costs, or where access to specialist installation vessels is limited and costly.
ABTOG is interested in using the platforms to house its normally unattended topsides, designed for various types of field, from pre-production to late life service.
