Aberdeen studying harbor expansion

The Aberdeen Harbour Board is conducting a feasibility study into expanding the existing harbor into Nigg Bay as part of a £330-million ($509.5-million) investment.

ABERDEEN, UK– The Aberdeen Harbour Board is conducting a feasibility study into expanding the existing harbor into Nigg Bay as part of a £330-million ($509.5-million) investment.

The purpose is to accommodate larger vessels and to add more than 1,700 m (5,577 ft) of quay.

HR Wallingford has worked with the Harbour Board from the concept phase through the latest phase of design. Studies have included modeling of waves and currents, layout and breakwater design, navigation simulation, and 2D and 3D hydraulic physical modeling of the harbor.
