Iran progresses Oman subsea gas pipeline studies

TEHRAN, Iran – National Iranian Gas Exports Co. (NIGEC) has selected a consultant to conduct feasibility studies for a pipeline to export gas from Iran west to Oman.

“Legal procedures are under way for awarding the project,” managing director Ali-Reza Kameli told news service Shana.

The 400-km (248-mi) pipeline will extend from Mubarak Mountain across the Persian Gulf to Sohar Port.

Kameli added that studies on the offshore and onshore will be performed simultaneously.

In 2013,Iran agreed to export 28 MMcm/d (1 bcf/d) of gas to Oman through a subsea pipeline for 15 years.

Shana has also issued an update on thePhase 19 development of the South Pars gas field in the Persian Gulf. Mohsen Jazayeri, manager of Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Co. (IOEC), said Platform 19A is 65% complete and 19B is 40% complete, while 19C will soon be loaded out from the Khorramshahr Yard.

He added that 19C should start production during Iran’s next calendar year, which begins in March.

Phase 19 is designed to produce 50 MMcm/d (1.8 bcf/d) of sweet gas, 75,000 b/d of gas condensate, along with quantities of sulfur, liquefied petroleum gas, and ethane.

Petropars Ltd., Petropars Iran, and IOEC are responsible for the facilities under an engineering, procurement, construction contract.
