Turkey takes more gas via Black Sea pipeline

Gazprom says it exported 5.4 bcm (190 bcf) of gas to Turkey via the Blue Stream pipeline in the Black Sea during the first four months of 2015.

ANKARA, TurkeyGazprom says it exported 5.4 bcm (190 bcf) of gas to Turkey via the Blue Stream pipeline in the Black Sea during the first four months of 2015.

This represented a 4% increase over the same period in 2014.

Blue Stream provides around 16 bcm (600 bcf) annually of Russian natural gas to Turkish consumers.

During a recent meeting in Ankara, Gazprom Chairman Alexey Miller and Taner Yildiz, Turkey’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, addressed the upgrade of the gas pipeline and the new planned gas line from Russia to Turkey across the Black Sea.

Last December,Gazprom and Botas Petroleum Pipeline Corp. signed a memorandum of understanding on constructing the new 1,100-km (683-mi) pipeline which will transport 47 bcm (1.7 tcf) to the Turkish-Greek border.
