PARIS – Total has produced its two-billionth barrel from its operated deepwater block 17, 150 km (93 mi) offshore Angola.

Following start-up last summer of the CLOV hub, the block has become the company’s most prolific site worldwide, with current production of more than 700,000 boe/d. This is the highest of any operator in Angola, the company claims.

Total has four major producing hubs with FPSOs in the block serving theGirassol, Dalia, Pazflor, and CLOV projects.

“Block 17… represents a unique industrial adventure, with 15 discoveries and a very high level of production,” said Arnaud Breuillac, president, Exploration & Production.

Total operates block 17 in partnership with Statoil, Esso Exploration Angola, and BP Exploration Angola. Sonangol is the concessionaire of the license.

Additionally, Total has a 30% operating interest in the ultra-deepwater offshore Kaombo development located in block 32. Here the partners are developing estimated reserves of 650 MMbbl via two converted FPSOs with a combined production capacity of 230,000 b/d.
