LONDON – EnQuest says development drilling has re-started at the Thistle field in the UK northern North Sea.
Results from the first well, “A61,” have exceeded pre-drill expectations. Following completion operations it is due to come online around the end of May. EnQuest plans two further wells.
Another new production well was recently drilled at the company’s Heather field in the same region, also with encouraging results. Replacement of the Broom water injection flowline (tied back to the Heather platform) should follow during the current quarter.
In the Greater Kittiwake Area in the central North Sea, EnQuest expects to drill a side track at the Gadwall field in mid-year.
As for new UK North Sea development projects, theEnQuest Producer vessel sailed out of Newcastle in northeast England in March and was then moved to its location on the Alma/Galia field. There it was made “storm safe” and the ninth and final anchor chain was installed early this month.
Preparations for pulling in the risers have started and Alma/Galia remains on course for first oil in mid-year, with five wells set to come onstream. The completed Galia production well should be tied in during the second half of the year.
Subsea manifolds are in place on the seafloor for theKraken heavy-oil development. These will connect the templates to the first drill center. Two templates are also installed for the second drill center, while installation is under way of the mooring system for the FPSO.
The drilling rig is due to leave the shipyard soon for the Kraken field after undergoing its five year “special periodic survey.” During 2H 2015 it should begin batch top-hole drilling.
Offshore Malaysia, EnQuest expects first oil by mid-year from itsTanjong Baram field development.
For the block PM8/Seligi facilities, the focus this year is on well interventions and improvements to the field infrastructure, including work on gas compressors, pipelines, and generators.
