ABERDEEN, UK – Atlantic Offshore Rescue was due to name its latest Class A multi-role and emergency response and rescue (MRV/ERRV) vessel, today at Aberdeen Harbor.
This is the contractor’s third new vessel in the past 12 months, part of a £300-million ($459-million) fleet modernization program.
Following the ceremony,Ocean Falcon is due to start a contract at the Curlew field in the UK central North Sea. Atlantic will provide emergency recovery, rescue cover, tanker assistance, and general field support.
The 66.8-m (219-ft) long, 16-m (52-ft) beam vessel can accommodate a crew of 21, with facilities to rescue up to 300 personnel. Features include a towing capacity of up to 65 metric tons (71 tons), and two 1.93-MW MAN main engines.
Ocean Falcon is a new H820 design from Havyard Ship Design, built in Passai, Spain by Zamakona shipbuilders. Sister vessels Ocean Tay and Ocean Osprey were launched last year.
