Woodside makes gas discovery at Pyxis 1 off Western Australia

Woodside Petroleum Ltd. has made a gas discovery with the Pyxis 1 well in production license WA-34-L offshore Western Australia.

PERTH, Australia –Woodside Petroleum Ltd. has made a gas discovery with the Pyxis 1 well in production license WA-34-L offshore Western Australia.

The well reached TD of 3,347 m (10,981 ft). Wireline logging has confirmed the discovery through the recovery of gas samples to surface and establishment of a gas pressure gradient. Drilling intersected approximately 18.5 m (61 ft) of net gas within the Jurassic sandstone target.

Pyxis-1 is in the Dampier subbasin 15 km (9 mi) north of Woodside’s producingPluto gas field infrastructure.

Woodside Burrup Pty Ltd. is the operator and 90% equity owner of WA-34-L. Kansai Electric Power Australia Pty Ltd. and Tokyo Gas Pluto Pty Ltd. each hold 5% equity.
