PERTH, Australia – Woodside Petroleum has issued an update on its international exploration programs.
Offshore New Zealand, the Vulcan 3D seismic survey has been completed in the Taranaki basin and acquisition of the Toroa 3D seismic survey in the Great South basin should finish by mid-year.
In both cases, the data will be processed, analyzed, and interpreted over the coming months.
Off Morocco, Woodside has been progressing environmental approvals for a 2D planned seismic survey during the current quarter over the Rabat Ultra Deep Offshore area.
InMyanmar, the company recently signed production-sharing contracts for offshore blocks, AD-5 and A-7 (both operated), and AD-2 and A-4 (non-operated).
Seismic surveying should start toward year-end, and plans are under way for an exploration well in block A-6, an existing concession.
Offshore Tanzania a transition zone 2D seismic survey has been completed over the Lake Tanganyika South block, supplementing 2D data acquired during the previous quarter.
All data sets acquired for the block are undergoing processing and will be available for interpretation by mid-year.
Woodside has continued its deepwater drilling campaign offshore Australia, having recently completed the Anhalt-1 well in the Outer Canning basin. It plans to drill the Malaguti-1 well in Carnarvon basin permit WA-271-P during the current quarter.
Offshore Cameroon, the joint venture partners are preparing to spud the Cheetah-1 well in the Douala basin, Tilapia license.
As for ongoing field development, additional living quarters have been installed for Woodside’s A$2.5-billion ($1.9-billion) Western Flank Phase 1 project offshore Western Australia, while modifications continue to the Goodwyn A platform. The project remains on budget and on schedule for start-up in early 2016.
Front-end engineering and design continues for theGreater Western Flank Phase 2 project continues ahead of a final investment decision later this year.
