LONDONOphir Energy has completed acquisition of four deepwater production-sharing contracts (PSCs) offshore Indonesia from Niko Resources.

The company will operate the West Papua IV, Aru, Kofiau, and Halmahera-Kofiau concessions, all in the West Papua and Western Birds Head basins, where there is a mix of proven and frontier oil and gas plays.

Additionally, Ophir is acquiring the North Makassar Strait and North Ganal PSCs from Niko, but has opted against taking on the Obi concession.

Ophir plans to commission 2D and 3D seismic acquisition over its new blocks in preparation for drilling in 2016-2017.
