Offshore Brazil pipeline leak shuts down four offshore production platforms

Petrobras has shut down four platforms following detection of a leak in the subsea pipeline connecting the platforms.

RIO DE JANEIRO – Petrobras has shut down four platforms following detection of a leak in the subsea pipeline connecting the platforms.

A 44-bbl leak was detected. The platforms produce a combined 400 b/d of oil. A quick stop to the leak was expected.

Reuters reports that the leak was found at theCamorim field between production platforms PCM-5 and PCM-6, 16 km (10 mi) offshore from Aracajú. Both were shut down as were PCM-8 and PCM-9 as well.
