KONGSBERG, Norway –Kongsberg Maritime has successfully completed the customer acceptance testing for the first delivery of its HUGIN AUV with a new cNODE subsea positioning and communication system.

During testing earlier this year offshore Bali, Indonesia, and in the Indian Ocean, theAUV reached a record operational depth of 4,449 m (14,596 ft), said Kongberg Maritime.

The HUGIN AUV, which is rated to 4,500 m (14,764 ft), uses the cNODE system in place of three separate acoustic systems; a beacon transponder for positioning, an acoustic data link (uplink) and an acoustic command link. The new cNODE features the HiPAP 501 acoustic positioning system.
