ASKER, Norway – Kongsberg Oil & Gas Technologies has released version 1.7 of the LedaFlow transient multi-phase flow simulator.

It features substantial functionality changes including non-Newtonian fluids, wax appearance temperature, 3D visualization, and flowline profile tools.

Kongsberg has added various features to allow users to perform a more comprehensive analysis of their field to improve decisions during design and operations. One of these features is the capability for fluids to support Herschel-Bulkley rheology, enabling non-Newtonian behavior for simulations of operations such as well clean-up studies.

Another is the wax appearance functionality, allowing calculation of the temperature margin to wax formation.

An improved feature of the latest release, Kongsberg claims, is 3D visualization, displaying animated flow dynamics based on stratified/annular fluid levels in the pipe. Output properties too can be visualized as a colored band around the pipe, making analyzing simulation results more intuitive, the company says.
