READING, UK – GMC has completed basic design for a self-installing buoyant tower for Energean Oil and Gas’ Prinos field development offshore western Greece.

The design brief involved extending the life of the existing Prinos infrastructure, and determining a flexible solution for expansion of the development.

GMC assessed the field’s existing wellhead platform (Prinos Alpha), and recommended reinforcement measures to accommodate drilling usingEnergean’s newly acquired tender-assist rig Energean Force (ex-Glen Esk).

The solution made use of the local supply chain and workforce to deliver the platform modifications.

For the greenfield program, the company developed a full-field plan to connect a reconfigured and re-designed buoyant tower to the existing offshore processing facility (Prinos Delta), including j-tube and riser retrofits.

The design permits local fabrication and installation without the need for heavy-lift vessels, using locally available marine assets.
