SHANGHAI –FKAB China has completed conversion of a tanker into a semisubmersible heavy-lift vessel. The MV Zhen Hua 7has completed trials and is going to Africa.
FKAB conducted the conversion design of a 15 years old aframax tankerMako for Chinese ship owner Zhenhua Shipping Co. Ltd.
The vessel is converted to transport container cranes, offshore rigs, and other heavy cargoes. Cargo can be loaded/unloaded by roll-on/roll-off or float on/float off methods.
Total area cargo deck is about 170 m x 42 m (558 ft x 138 ft). The full length of cargo deck can be submerged 9 m (30 ft) below the waterline.
