Iceland to fund hydrocarbon studies

REYKJAVIK, Iceland – Applications are invited for Iceland’s Hydrocarbon Research Fund, according to the country’s National Energy Authority.

Deadline for applications is April 30.

The goals of the fund are to foster research and scientific knowledge of hydrocarbon resources on Iceland’s continental shelf, including the conditions for their formation, and to promote development of technologies that can improve performance under the local prevailing conditions.

This year, the special focus for grants is on research of sediment sequences on theJan Mayen Ridge that are older than the opening of the North Atlantic.

Relevant research may include sediment stratigraphy, geochemistry, and geophysics.
