SINGAPORE – The CGG Amadeus has started a 570-sq km (220-sq mi) 3D seismic acquisition program for Eni Vietnam over block 120 offshore central Vietnam.
The 6,869-sq km (2,652-sq mi) concession overlies the Quang Ngai graben and the Tri Ton Horst, where water depths range from 50-650 m (164-2,132 ft). The graben connects the Song Hong and Qiongdongnan basins in the north to the Phu Khanh basin in the south.
The 23-day survey will image the carbonate and basement sections of the Ca Lang prospect and associated leads on the Tri Ton Horst. It will tie into a 502-sq km (194-sq mi) 3D seismic dataset that was acquired in 2012.
According to Eni’s partnerKrisEnergy, the 1993 120-CS-1X exploration well encountered good oil shows while the Ca Ngu-1 well drilled two years ago – 25 km (15.5 mi) northwest of Ca Lang – intersected a 20-m (65.6-ft) oil and gas column; both wells confirm the existence of a petroleum system in the area.
