STOCKHOLM, Sweden – The semisubmersible Bredford Dolphin has spudded a well for Lundin Norway on the Morkel prospect in the Norwegian North Sea.

Well 33/2-2S in PL579 is 180 km (112 mi) from Florø, and around 40 km (25 mi) northwest of the Snorre field.

The main objectives are to test the hydrocarbon potential and reservoir properties of the Jurassic section. Lundin believes Morkel could hold 74 MMboe.

Planned TD is 3,500 m (11,483 ft) below mean sea level. Drilling is expected to last around 60 days.
