LONDON– The Tanzanian authorities have agreed to defer Aminex’s two-well drilling commitment on the Nyuni Area PSA, which was due to be completed by the end of October.

It has now been deferred into the four-year first extension which expires in October 2019. The deferral remains conditional on results of an environmental impact assessment, currently in progress, and the eventual acquisition of 3D in the deepwater part of the concession, subject to completion of a tendering process.

Previous exploration on the license area has focused on the shelf and included theKiliwani North-1 gas discovery, which is due to enter production through new gas infrastructure this year.

Aminex CEO Jay Bhattacherjee said: “With significant gas discoveries madeoffshore Tanzania in the last few years, new 3D seismic over Nyuni Area should enable Aminex and its partners to unlock the potential of the license…”
