LONDON – Rockhopper Exploration says the semisubmersible Eirik Raude has begun mobilization from West Africa to the North Falkland basin (NFB).

The rig should be on hire from the first week of March when it will start a six-welldrilling campaign off the Falkland Islands.

Rockhopper will participate in wells on the Zebedee, Isobel, Jayne East, and Chatham prospects, all in the NFB. The drilling order is still to be finalized but the companies involved are considering a modification to allow all four wells to be drilled consecutively before the rig transfers to the Southern Falkland basin.

At present, the first well will likely be on Zebedee.

The company estimates the total recoverable resource being targeted in the campaign at more than 500 MMbbl.
