Tata Steel reaches pipe supply milestone

Tata Steel has supplied 1 million metric tons (1.1 million tons) of pipeline for oil and gas projects in the North Sea.

ABERDEEN, UKTata Steel has supplied 1 million metric tons (1.1 million tons) of pipeline for oil and gas projects in the North Sea.

Richard Broughton, commercial manager of Tata Steel exploration and production, said: “Tata Steel has been providing solutions to the North Sea market for more than 21 years, culminating in 1 MM tons and 4 million m [13 million ft] of welded pipe. In excess of half a million meters has been installed using reel-lay construction methods.”

The company’s latest solution is claimed to provide superior dimensional control than traditional seamless pipe. Other benefits are said to include reduced structural integrity risk and faster installation times.
