RIO DE JANEIRO – Petrobras says its total volume of leakages of oil and oil products fell by 63% last year.
Total leaks amounted to 69.5 cu m (2,454 cu ft), equivalent to around 0.09 cu m/MMbbl (3.18 cu ft/MMbbl) of oil produced – the company’s best result in the last 10 years.
It follows implementation in 2012 of the company’s Zero Spill Plan, which sets out actions to reduce oil spills for each operational unit, in line with the characteristics of its processes.
The plan also established various initiatives to improve management and processes and to guarantee the integrity of equipment and facilities.
