Jan. 20, 2015
Dr. Chinedum Onyemechi, senior lecturer at the Federal University of Technology Owerri, Nigeria, will discuss the study that aims to initiate an economic research model that would trigger better economic policies in the Nigerian offshore and subsea technology sector.

An assessment of Nigeria’s offshore sector was performed by applying Porter’s Diamond cluster model to ascertain the contribution of the sector to the nation’s economy compared to the development focus of the nation toward maximizing efficient investments in the subsea support subsector. It also assessed the contribution of Nigeria’s subsea sector vis-a-vis Africa and the rest of the world.

The work reassessed Nigeria’s economy based basically on oil and gas with a future grossly dependent on the subsea and offshore sector and emphasized the country’s need for a refocusing strategy toward the sector.

Onyemechi’s presentation is listed as an alternate in the session scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 21, from 16:00-17:30 in the Abora suite of the Eko Hotel & Suites on Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria. For more information, please visitwww.offshorewestafrica.com
