OSLO, NORWAY –Petrolia Norway AS has commenced drilling of exploratory well 26/10-1 in PL674BS in the Norwegian North Sea.

The well will investigate the hydrocarbon potential of the Zulu prospect located 62 mi (100 km) west of Stavanger and about 19 mi (30 km) northeast of the Johan Sverdrup discovery.

Petrolia stated that the objective of the well is to test the reservoir properties and hydrocarbon potential of Miocene-aged sandstones of the Utsira formation in the Patch Bank Ridge. Lundin Norway, operator of the block, estimates that Zulu has the potential to contain un-risked, gross prospective resources of 153 MMboe.

The planned total depth of the well is 3,346 ft (1,020 m) below mean sea level, and the well will be drilled using theIsland Innovator semisubmersible. Drilling is expected to take about 25 days.

Petrolia Norway holds a 35% working interest in PL674BS. Partners Lundin Norway and E.ON E&P Norge hold 35% and 30% working interest, respectively.
