Caspian Driller nears start-up offshore Turkmenistan

DUBAI, UAEDragon Oil has issued a progress report on developments at the Cheleken Contract Area in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea.

Three rigs are currently in service. TheNeptune is drilling the Dzheitune (Lam) C/198 development well; the jackup Elima is drilling the Dzheitune (Lam) 13/199 well; and Land Rig 2 is drilling the Dzhygalybeg (Zhdanov) A/102 well.

Later in the current quarter the newbuild jackupCaspian Driller is expected to also start operations. However, following completion of the Dzheitune (Lam) 22/194 well, Dragon will release Land Rig 1.

The company’s water injection pilot project continues at the Dzheitune (Lam) 75 area. Dragon has applied to acquire water injection facilities for installation at the Dzheitune (Lam) field and hopes to start procurement later this year.

During 2H 2014, the company commissioned a jet pumping system on the Dzheitune (Lam) 13 platform for two wells and procured further jet pumping systems for other platforms in the CCA area. Commissioning should start soon.

In February 2014, Dragon awarded a contract for engineering, construction, and installation of the Dzheitune (Lam) E wellhead and production platform and associated pipelines. Design and detailed engineering is under way and fabrication has started of the platform.

Installation has been completed of the Dzheitune (Lam) F accommodation platform (the former Dzhygalybeg B platform) in the central part of the Dzheitune (Lam) field. Installation is in progress of the production platform and the facility is expected be ready for drilling by mid-year.

Structural strengthening continue at other platforms in the Dzheitune (Lam) field, with new slots being added (or under planning) to allow further drilling from these platforms.

Bids are under evaluation for engineering, procurement, installation, and construction of a gas treatment plant. Following contract award, Dragon expects construction to take up to three years.
