ABERDEEN, UK– Subsea/topsides cables and connectors provider Hydro Group has installed and commissioned a new armoring line at its facility in Bridge of Don, Aberdeen.
The company can now offer customized single and multi-layered steel armored cables in galvanized improved steel and corrosion-resistant steels.
Managing director Doug Whyte said: “The system will allow us to manufacture mechanically protected cables which can withstand higher stresses insubsea operations, as well as contra helical armored subsea control cables which act to neutralize the tension and compression forces that occur in the wires each time the cable is bent or flexed.”
