STAVANGER, NorwayEdison Norge says drilling recently started on the Tvillingen Sør exploratory well in the Norwegian Sea.

The semisubmersibleLeiv Eiriksson is drilling well 6406/6-4 in the Haltenbanken, 35 km (21.7 mi) southeast of the Kristin field, in a water depth of 261 m (856 ft).

The main objectives are the Jurassic sandstones related to the Fangst & Båt Group.

Maersk Oil operates the license, which was awarded in January 2009. It comprises parts of blocks 6406/5 and 6406/6. This is the first well drilled to date on the acreage.
