Statoil to operate Johan Sverdrup development phases

Partners in the Johan Sverdrup development in the North Sea have recommended Statoil as operator for all phases of the field.

STAVANGER, Norway – Partners in the Johan Sverdrupdevelopment in the North Sea have recommended Statoil as operator for all phases of the field. This recommendation will be included in the unit operating agreement (UOA), which is planned for submission to authorities in February 2015 together with the plan for development and operation (PDO).

Statoil plans to achieve a recovery factor of at least 70% from the field.

The field development plan includes a field center that will carry out the most important functions while also allowing for the subsequent connection of various installations during the development’s different phases. This integrated solution will ensure efficient field development and operation.

Listed below are the partners in the Johan Sverdrup field, which consists of three production licenses:

· Production license 501/501B: Lundin Norway (operator, 40%), Statoil (40%), Maersk Oil (20%)

· Production license 265: Statoil (operator, 40%), Petoro (30%), Det norske (20%), Lundin Norway (10%)

· Production license 502: Statoil (operator, 44%), Petoro (33%), Det norske (22%).

Located on the Utsira High in the North Sea, the Johan Sverdrup field is about 96 mi (155 km) west of Stavanger. The field is made up of 95% oil and 5% rich gas. The resource estimate for the entire field is between 1.8 and 2.9 Bboe.

With production start-up planned for the end of 2019, on plateau Johan Sverdrup will represent 25% of the total oil production in Norway. Statoil says the field is capable of 50 years of production.
