AUGSBURG, Germany – MAN Diesel & Turbo has supplied two high-pressure compression modules to MODEC for Petrobras’ FPSOCidade de Mangaratiba in the Santos basin offshore Brazil.

The equipment is housed on two RB 28-6 barrel compressor skids driven by an electric motor, and with a design discharge pressure of 550 bar (7,977 psi). Both skids were built and tested at MAN’s facilities in Zurich, Switzerland.

They were then transported to a shipyard in Singapore where they were installed on the vessel in two 22 x 8 x 14-m (72 x 26 x 46-ft) modules, each weighing around 400 tons.

“Both modules were designed for easy integration into the FPSO thus enabling us to shorten the time for installation and commissioning by nearly a year, compared to conventional assembly directly on board,” said MDT’s project manager Gilbcaroll Hernandez.

Following offshore pre-commissioning, start-up activities and control systems checks, the high-pressure compression modules were handed over for commercial operation earlier this month.
