TEHRAN, Iran – The new South Pars Phase 16 platform is expected to enter service soon in the Persian Gulf, following successful injection of nitrogen into the facility.

A consortium of Iranian contractors led by Shahab Aria Naft Co. is in charge of the Phase 16 offshore and associated onshore development, according to news service Shana.

They are targeting gas production of at least 40 MMcm/d (1 bcf/d) during the peak winter period.

The concurrent development of South Pars phases 15 and 16 is designed to produce 56.6 MM liter/d (2 MMcf/d) of natural gas, 75,000 b/d of gas condensate and 400 tons/d of sulfur.

Iran expects development of all outstanding phases ofSouth Pars to be completed in 2017, Shana adds.
