Shell Gabon has awarded Van Oord an engineering, procurement, and construction contract to replace a dual 10-km (6.2-mi) long oil export pipeline.

ROTTERDAM, the NetherlandsShell Gabon has awarded Van Oord an engineering, procurement, and construction contract to replace a dual 10-km (6.2-mi) long oil export pipeline. Work is due to start this month and continue through summer 2015.

The export line runs from the Gamba terminal, 200 nautical miles (230 mi) south of Port Gentil, to a pipeline end manifold. Van Oord will deploy the shallow-water lay bargeStingray to replace the existing 30-in. line with a looped dual 22-in. sea line system with pigging facilities, to allow for inspection and cleaning.
