NH9 completes its first 1,000-m deepwater well in South China Sea

China Oilfied Services Ltd. says the NH9 semisubmersible has completed drilling the first 3,281 ft (1,000-m) deepwater well.

BEIJING - China Oilfied Services Ltd. says the NH9 semisubmersible has completed drilling the first 3,281 ft (1,000-m) deepwater well. This achievement has made the rig one of two vessels that have reached ultra-deepwater depths in the South China Sea, the company stated.  

NH9 is the deepest operational depth semisubmersible drilling rig put into operation by COSL in addition to its HYSY981 drilling rig. NH9 is a fourth-generation drilling rig with a designing operational depth of up to 5,000 ft (1,524 m) and a maximum drilling depth of 25,000 ft (7,620 m).
