LIVERPOOL, UK – UK marine flooring manufacturer Durastic has won a supply-and-installation deal on a new North Sea platform being built by Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) in South Korea. Durastic will supply and lay its seamless, fire-retardant underlay and flooring products in the cellar deck of the new platform, which is under construction for BP’s Clair Ridge oil field.

The North Sea platform’s cellar deck will be laid with 528 sq m (5,683 sq ft) of Durastic lightweight underlay. This light underlay is used to prepare steel decking surfaces for a final top flooring surface. Then, 255 sq m (2,745 sq ft) of Durastic Decorflake epoxy-resin covering will be laid, forming one of the main flooring surfaces for the cellar deck.

This latest work comes after a previous order with HHI to supply products for the Clair Ridge platform’s main module. Durastic products meet A60 fire-retardant safety and certification standards set by maritime organizations across the world.
