GALVESTON, Texas – Yokagawa is presenting the latest capabilities of its CENTUM VP Integrated Process Control Platform and ProSafe–RS Safety Instrumented System (SIS) for topside, hull, and subsea operation on the exhibition floor of the Deepwater Operations Conference & Exhibition being held at the Moody Gardens Convention Center in Galveston, Texas, from November 4-6.

As offshore facilities are getting larger by engaging multiple production modules, the company says that system integration becomes even more important for offshore production automation systems. For this reason, it explains that the CENTUM VP system can be fully integrated to provide a single operator interface of the entire offshore facility.

The integration is not only limited to a single facility, but often includes the entire offshore field and the onshore facilities, which can also be integrated with Yokagawa systems.

Capabilities include Yokagawa’s Consolidated Alarm Management Software (CAMS), which is used to manage alarms and event information from all core systems and sub-systems online. The company says that CAMS intelligently sorts alarms and displays only those alarms that require operator action. It provides definition and severity and consequences of those necessary alarms in accordance with EEMUA Publication No. 191 alarm management guideline and ISA-18.2.

The CENTUM VP system also provides seamless integration between topsides systems and the subsea master control system, which is getting to be a common demand from offshore field operators, say Yokagawa officials. To this end, the company has been standardizing functional templates to run the full master control system functionality into the CENTUM VP platform. The advanced and reliable architecture provides the basis upon which operators can make rapid progress in their subsea automation strategy, the company says.
