GALVESTON, Texas – Proserv introduced its new range of Pipeline Cleaning Coating Removal (PCR) tools on the exhibition floor of the Deepwater Operations Conference & Exhibition held at the Moody Gardens Convention Center in Galveston, Texas, from November 4-6.
The new tool will offer offshore pipeline operators a way of checking on the integrity of their pipe by periodically examining the quality of the pipe wall under certain select areas targeted for inspection.
The company says that the new PCR tools can remove coating on pipelines ranging from 100 to 1,200 mm (4 to 48 in.) outside diameter, and has been designed to remove a 360-degree section of coating up to 1 m (3 ft) in length. This is achieved by manipulating the jetting carriage using linear and circumferential hydraulically controlled with fly-by-wire technology.
As explained at the company’s booth, the PCR tools are fitted with a rotating multi jet head(s) to remove various coating types at the optimum rate. The electro hydraulic supply and control can be operated from the surface or via an ROV subsea. All monitoring and adjustments are controlled via the company’s in-house designed software.
The PCR tools are capable of removing any type of coating such as FBE, concrete weight coating, SPU, bitumen, and coal tart enamel, Proserv officials said.
