ALP deal boosts towing, anchor handler fleet

Teekay Offshore subsidiary ALP Maritime Services has agreed to acquire six long-distance towing and anchor handling vessels for around $220 million.

HAMILTON, Bermuda – Teekay Offshore subsidiary ALP Maritime Services has agreed to acquire six long-distance towing and anchor handling vessels for around $220 million.

Thevessels were built between 2006 and 2010 and all are equipped with dynamic positioning. The company expects to take delivery of all six by 1Q 2015.

These additions, along with ALP’s existing long-distance towing and anchor handling newbuilds (scheduled for delivery in 2016) will make the company the world’s largest owner and operator of DP towing and anchor handlers, Teekay says.

All 10 vessels will be capable of long-distance towing and offshore unit installation and decommissioning of large floating exploration, production and storage units, including FPSO units, FLNG units, and floating drill rigs.
