OSLO, Norway – Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has approved Statoil’s plan for permanent plugging of an exploration well in the Svalin field in the North Sea block 25/11.

Svalin has been developed via a subsea tieback to the Grane field, 8 km (4.9 mi) to the northeast, in a water depth of 120 m (393 ft). Production started in June.

The semisubmersibleTransocean Leader will perform the operation on well 25/11-16, which currently has a temporary plug.
