PARISCGG says an unnamed international E&P company has committed pre-funding of the contractor’s entire multi-client Gulf of Mexico StagSeis 871 offshore block program.

The commitment covers over 20,000 sq km (7,722 sq mi) to be addressed by all three StagSeis surveys – IBALT, DEUX, and TROIS – and is in addition to pre-funding by various other E&P companies.

StagSeis combines a patented marine acquisition configuration with what CGG claims is the industry’s most advanced subsurface imaging technology to provide improved subsurface images. CGG completed acquisition of the campaign earlier this month, and all vessels involved are now active on other client-funded projects.

The campaign covered the complex subsalt plays in parts of Garden Banks, Keathley Canyon, Walker Ridge, and Green Canyon. The data will help participants evaluate the large number of lease blocks to be auctioned in the Gulf of Mexico through 2020.
