Ivory well targets gas in Aasta Hansteen area

OSLO, Norway – The drillship West Navigator has started drilling the Ivory prospect in the Norwegian Sea for the Centrica-led PL 528 partnership.

According to partner Rocksource, well 6707/10-3 S is located 20 km (12.4 mi) northeast of the Statoil-operatedAasta Hansteen field development.

The main aim is to prove hydrocarbons in the Kvitnos formation sandstones, with a secondary target in the Lysing formation. Ivory could potentially hold 50-230 MMboe in the primary target. There are other prospects in the license according to another partner, Atlantic Petroleum.

Planned TD is 4,149 m (13,612 ft) below mean sea level.
