Gassco takes over Valemon gas pipeline operations

KOPERVIK, Norway – Norwegian offshore gas trunklines operator Gassco has assumed operatorship of the 177-km (110-mi) long, 22-in. Valemon rich gas pipeline.

This will transport rich gas from the Statoil-operatedValemon development in the northern Norwegian North Sea to the Heimdal field center for further processing.

Statoil is technical service provider to the Valemon rich gas pipeline joint venture partners.

The pipeline runs to a tie-in to the existing Huldra pipeline. Its capacity is 13 MMcm/d (459 MMcf/d).

Valemon is 10 km (6.2 mi) west of Kvitebjørn.  Production is due to start later this year.

According to Jan Hauge, executive vice president for system operation in Gassco, “The next milestone in the project will be to complete dewatering of the pipeline during November.”
