FEED under way for UK offshore CO2 pipeline

Wood Group Kenny has received a six-month front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract for the subsea/pipeline element of the Peterhead Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) project in Aberdeenshire, eastern Scotland.

ABERDEEN, UK– Wood Group Kenny has received a six-month front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract for the subsea/pipeline element of the Peterhead Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) project in Aberdeenshire, eastern Scotland.

The project, claimed to be the world’s first full-chain CCS scheme, is under development by Shell with support from Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE).

The contract scope includes: developing a landfall solution at the Peterhead power station; design of a new carbon dioxide (CO2) export pipeline from this facility to a subsea tie-in with the existing Goldeneye pipeline in the North Sea; and a new subsea intervention valve (SSIV), including controls system and tie-in spools.

Eighty engineers will support the project from Wood Group Kenny offices in Aberdeen and London.
