Drilling under way on Lindaormen off mid-Norway

STOCKHOLM, Sweden –The semisub Bredford Dolphin has spud an exploration well for Lundin Norway on the Lindaormen prospect in the Norwegian Sea.

Well 6405/12-1 is being drilled in license PL584,150 km (93 mi) northwest of Kristiansund and around 80 km (50 mi) northeast of the Ormen Lange gas field.

The main goal is to test the reservoir properties and hydrocarbon potential of Paleocene sandstones in the Rås basin. Lundin estimates that Lindarormen could contain 194 MMboe.

Drilling should last around 60 days, with a planned TD of 3,280 m (10,761 ft) below mean sea level. Bayerngas Norge is Lundin’s partner in the license.
