Statoil to appraise North Sea Krafla discovery

Statoil has approval from the Norwegian Petroleum Safety Authority to drill two exploration wells in the Oseberg area of the North Sea.

OSLO, Norway – Statoil has approval from the Norwegian Petroleum Safety Authority to drill two exploration wells in the Oseberg area of the North Sea.

The semisubmersibleTransocean Leader will drill wildcat well 30/11-10 (Krafla North) and side track appraisal well 30/11-10 A (Krafla Main) from the same surface location.

Both targets are 22 km (13.7 mi) from the Oseberg Sør facility and 2.2 km (1.4 mi) from theKrafla oil and gas discovery (30/11-8 S), drilled in 2011.
