STOCKHOLM, Sweden – The semisubmersible Bredford Dolphin has spudded a well on the Vollgrav South prospect in the Norwegian North Sea for Lundin Norway.

Well 33/12-10 S in license PL631 will investigate the hydrocarbon potential of the structure, which is 150 km (93 mi) west of Florø on Norway’s west coast and in between theGullfaks and Statfjord fields. This is the first well on the license, which was awarded in February 2012.

Lundin says there could be analogies with the Borg field, which forms part of the producingTordis field 20 km (12 mi) to the north. It estimates potential resources at 57 MMboe.

Planned TD is 3,050 m (10,006 ft) below mean sea level. Drilling should last around 55 days.
