LONDON – Salamander Energy has conditional approval of an environmental impact assessment (EIA) involving exploration drilling in the G4/50 license in the Gulf of Thailand.
Of the 20 drilling locations in the original EIA for theGreater Bualuang Area, 18 have been approved subject to an update of oil spill response modeling to account for the removal of the two remaining drilling locations.
The 18 retained locations include all of Salamander’s top prospects in the license. The company aims to start drilling before year end.
