RIO DE JANEIRO – Petrobras has proven an extension of a gas and light oil discovery in the Moita Bonita area of the Sergipe-Alagoas basin offshore Brazil.

The Moita Bonita 3 well was drilled in the BM-SEAL-10 concession block and was the second extension well in the area. The well is 82 km (51 mi) from the coast of Sergipe, 5 km (3.1 mi) from the Moita Bonita 1 discovery well in a water depth of 2,790 m (9,153 ft).

Drilling confirmed 40-m (131-ft) thick reservoirs with good permeability and porosity. A subsequent formation test proved 41°API oil with strong reservoir productivity.

The Moita Bonita accumulation is part of theSergipe-Alagoas basin ultra-deepwater development program.
