MOSCOW – Transportation is complete of the topsides of the living quarter platform (LQP-1) for Lukoil’s Vladimir Filanovsky oil development in the northern Caspian Sea.

Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) surveyed preparations at the Krasnye Barrikady, JSC shipyard in Russia’s Astrakhan region.

The topsides were taken by theYury Kuvykin transport-assembly barge from the yard to the offshore installation site, 170 km (105.6-mi) south of Astrakhan and 20 km (12.4 mi) east of Maliy Zhemchuzhniy Island.

According to RS, marine operations for this type of program are complex and success depends on factors including a restricted tug speed, favorable wave height and wind speed, time of a day, and good weather during the entire tug/tow operation.

As soon as weather conditions allow, work will start on attaching and installing the LQP-1 topside section to itssubstructure. RS specialists will survey this and subsequent work to complete construction and fit-out of the facility.
