HOUSTON –The Noble Energy and BP Exploration & Production Bright exploration well in deepwater Gulf of Mexico found no hydrocarbons.
The well, operated byBP in Atwater Valley 362, is P&A’d after reaching Upper and Middle Miocene targets. It was drilled to a TD of 13,500 ft (4,115 m).
A full well assessment and insight from drilling the hole will be incorporated into the geologic models to help determine future exploration on the acreage.
"While we are disappointed with the results of the Bright well, we remain extremely encouraged by the recent success of our exploration program in the Gulf,” said Susan Cunningham, senior vice president, Gulf of Mexico, West Africa and Frontier for Noble Energy. “We look forward to results at our Katmai and Dantzler exploration wells later this month.”
