BERGEN, Norway –VNG Norge has proven more oil close to its Upper Jurassic Pil discovery in the Norwegian Sea.

The semisubTransocean Arctic drilled well 6406/12-3 A on the Bue prospect, 2.1 km (1.3 mi) northeast of the Pil discovery well on license PL 586, intersecting an 18-m (59-ft) hydrocarbon column in mid-upper Jurassic reservoir rocks.

According to VNG’s partner Rocksource, Bue appears to be a smaller field and pressure data suggests it is a separate accumulation.

Rocksource estimates combined reserves for the two structures in the range 95-175 MMboe, with potentially higher volumes to be found elsewhere on the license.

The partners have secured rig capacity for two further wells in 2015.

PL 586 is on theHalten Terrace, 33 km (20.5 mi) from the Njord field and its associated production facilities.
